Royal Mail seeks to make address validation easier

The UK postal service is working to make its Postcode Address File more useful for address verification and hygiene service providers, the Post & Parcel says.

Royal Mail has created a compliance centre to help businesses access the more than 29 million addresses in the database and ensure contact data quality, while cutting down on undeliverable rates and keeping companies current on any contact changes.

"We created the PAF Compliance Centre because we wanted to give licensed PAF Solutions Providers the confidence that they are licensing their end-users correctly and consistently, while at the same time communicating how they can maximise value from the PAF licence," said Steve Rooney - the head of the agency's Address Management Unit - as quoted by Post & Parcel.

The agency has been working to improve its service in other areas as well. Royal Mail said in a statement that it had managed to exceed its First and Second Class quality targets over the summer. Additionally, it had surpassed eight of the 12 service targets, something the operations and modernisation managing director, Mark Higson, said was a reflection of Royal Mail employees' hard work and dedication.
